Killing Me Slowly

A leopardess who learned how to dance. And read.
Fables, Vol. 1: Legends in Exile - James Jean, Craig Hamilton, Lan Medina, Steve Leialoha, Bill Willingham I have a love-hate relationship with Fables. The long-term story is wonderful - constantly evolving, never stale, clever and new, full of interesting and entertaining characters, and compelling in a way I wish more comics were. Some storylines are better than others *cough*TheGreatFablesCrossover*cough*, but they're all incredibly hard to put down.

But, and it's a big "but" - the storylines involving women almost always tend to have a "conservative" (read: sexist) bent (the endgame for women usually involves married and/or pregnant), the Arabian Fables, once they get involved, are a huge bag of racist fail, and (much) later volumes are downright mean-spirited, in their fat-shaming misogyny.

They keep making me angry, but I keep f*ing reading them, too.
